01What it is
Cost categories are the list the application uses to split site costs. A new company gets five categories: Labour, Materials, Subcontractors, Equipment and transport, and Other.
Labour, Materials and Subcontractors are system categories. They receive automatic costs: labour from timesheets, stock and purchases, and subcontractor settlements. You can rename them, but you cannot deactivate or delete them.
Your own categories are for costs entered by hand. A category that already has costs is deactivated rather than deleted, so the cost history stays.
- AUTOMATIC COSTS
- Labour, materials and subcontractors land in their category by themselves.
- YOUR OWN CATEGORIES
- For manual costs, such as equipment and transport.
- HISTORY STAYS
- A category with costs is deactivated, not deleted.
